Our development to date

The Network is a membership organisation in the charitable and voluntary sector committed to equality, whose Board is representative of a variety of disparate interests and fields all with a common focus on the use of reminiscence. All its development to date has taken place using the energy, dedication and single-mindedness of volunteers and trainers employed on a sessional basis. A number of bodies have given formal recognition to the strengths inherent in the Network’s objectives and have purchased and/or supported training from the Network.

Our objectives include

Encouraging people in Northern Ireland to recall and value their personal life experience by the provision of reminiscence-based activities assisting people with dementia to remember their past as a way of promoting communication and building relationships in the present advancing the education and training of people in reminiscence work, life review and related activities and to promote the development of reminiscence work throughout Northern Ireland

We believe in

  • Celebrating uniqueness and difference
  • Empowering people
  • Valuing life differences
  • Upholding trustworthiness and integrity
