Our training is divided into three different categories.- CreativeReminiscence, Training Courses and Bespoke Training. 

 

1) CREATIVE REMINISCENCE

This facilitation programme is for groups and individuals. A RNNI facilitator can provide a range of Reminiscence activities of your choice. Would you or your group interested in imaginative reminiscence work?

2) TRAINING COURSES

Are you interested in being trained on Reminiscence Work, Dementia Care or obtaining a Postqualifying Module in Life Story Work and Life Review? 

 

Introduction to Reminiscence and Life Story Work 

2 day course, OCN accredited

 

To give participants an introduction to reminiscence work through information, examples, practical exercises and discussion.

Creative Reminiscence in Dementia Care & Apprenticeship - RYCT Programme

The Creative Reminiscence in Dementia Care training takes place over 2 days and will provide a wide range of creative reminiscence activities to use in the field of dementia care, along with dementia awareness exercises.

There will be an opportunity for those who complete the 2 day training to join the Apprenticeship Scheme. This will involve attending, observing and participating in at least 6 out of the 10 weekly group sessions of the “Remembering Yesterday, Caring Today” project.

Reminiscence, Life Story Work and Life Review - MSc/PQ Specialist Award  module: 7.5 day course (University of Ulster accredited)

 

Narrative methods, theory and application across the life cycle.

This module supports the beneficial use of reminiscence in a variety of contexts and practice settings. Through skilled reminiscence, life story or life review work, an individual can be helped to appreciate past strengths and achieve increased self esteem which can be utilized to cope with current and future transitions or troubles. 

This course,  now in its 4th year has been successfully completed by over 30 students who have found it hugely benefitial.

3) BESPOKE TRAINING

Life Story Work

To provide participants with the knowledge and skills to undertake one to one Life Story Work.

Reminiscence Work in Dementia Care

To prepare participants for sensitive and ethical reminiscence work with people with diagnosis of dementia.

Reminiscence Work with Older People with Learning Disabilities

 

The course will give confidence to all staff who plan to undertake Reminiscence or Life Story Work with older people who have a learning Disability, and is of relevance to managers, social workers, day care and home care workers.

Progressing your Reminiscence Practise

 

To provide reminiscence practitioners with more advanced reminiscence knowledge, methods and skills. Designed for those who want to further develop their reminiscence practise.

Reminiscence in the Promotion of Mental Health

 

The course will give confidence to all staff who plan to undertake Reminiscence in the mental health field. The course supports  tthe recovery Model in mental health work and is of relevance to managers, social workers, CPNs, nurses, day care and home care workers.

  • All training days run 9.45am for a 10.00am start, finishing at 4.00pm.
  • RNNI Certificates of Attendance issued on all courses – These can be used as evidence for NISCC’s Post Registration Training and Learning/Continuing Professional Development requirements.
